Bill Update: S 200 Polled out of Committee with No Opportunity for Public Comment

February 3, 2021 by Alana Jordan

February 3, 2021 – SC Senate Bill 200 – Death by Electrocution or Lethal Injection – was polled out of committee yesterday, with no opportunity for public comment or committee debate. S 200 will be considered on the Senate floor today at 11:45 a.m.

S 200 proposes to make electrocution the only method for carrying out an execution in South Carolina if the director of the Department of Corrections (SCDC) certifies lethal injection is not “available” at the time a condemned inmate must select an execution method.

Please reach out to your local state Senator and let them know how you feel about the movement of S 200 by clicking the link below.
